Our Iron Phi Story

Iron Phi

Ohio Epsilon - University of Akron

Welcome to Ohio Epsilon's Iron Phi team page!

Ohio Epsilon is working towards achieving its 7th year of Iron Phi Status! With your help and support, we can accomplish our goal of helping those who suffer from Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS).

We Phi Delts have a special saying within our organization - "We enjoy life by the help and society of others."  This is, in fact, our open motto and explains our Chapter's desire to help others especially through the Iron Phi initiative.

The mission of Iron Phi is to strengthen the Phi Delta Theta International Fraternity and the impact it has on the fight against Lou Gehrig's disease through the fundraising and athletic efforts of its members.

Those of us listed below have committed to becoming Iron Phis.  We have selected an athletic endeavor that we'd like to accomplish, will be fundraising for The LiveLikeLou Foundation during our training, and look forward to completing the athletic events that we have chosen. It won't be easy, but we know the experience will last a lifetime.

We would encourage you to do one of two things on this page: 1) Help members of our team reach the $1,000 fundraising level by making a donation on their individual page, or 2) Join us in our journey to become Iron Phis. We have a number of guys looking to become Iron Phi's that could use your support!

Our Chapter will be competing against Phis from more than 200 campuses where the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity has had chapters since 1848.  You can track our progress by revisiting this page or frequenting the Iron Phi homepage for an up-to-date look at where we stand in comparison to everyone else. We currently sit at 4th in all-time fundraisng and this year we're stiving to fundraise $10,000 for ALS Research!

We thank you for your support, and we appreciate your generosity in helping us achieve our goals!

With Gratitude,

The Brothers of the Ohio Epsilon Chapter

How Does My Donation Make a Difference?

Your donation towards an Iron Phi athlete equally supports two very important things: Supporting ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) through research and support of ALS families and leadership development for undergraduate members of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.

At the end of each year calendar year, the LiveLikeLou Foundation grants dollars raised through Iron Phi to fund its initiatives that support ALS research, scholarships to support the higher education goals of ALS dependents, and summer camp experiences for children who have a parent or grandparent with ALS.

Dollars used for undergraduate leadership development have and continue to help Phi Delta Theta educate more of its undergraduate members as they work to “Become the Greatest Version of Themselves.”
