My Iron Phi Story
Welcome to Christopher McDonald's Iron Phi Page
Hello! As you might know, my name is Christopher McDonald, and I am a student at the University of Georgia hoping to make an impact. A little over a decade ago, the Phi Delta Theta fraternity created a fundraiser named Iron Phi, with a goal for each member of the fraternity at every chapter across the nation to raise $1000 in support of Lou Gehrig's disease, who was apart of Phi Delta Theta himself. While I can't find a cure for Lou Gehrig's disease, I would love to do everything I can to help. I'll be participating in the 5k run to both raise money for Lou Gehrig's disease and strengthen my fraternity, Phi Delta Theta, an organization that has done so much for not only me, but people all across the world who struggle with ALS. All money donated goes directly to supporting those who suffer from ALS, and I hope to be able to help as much as I can.
While it may be difficult for me to raise this amount, I am sure I will be able to reach my goal. I'm going to raise at least $1000 for the cause but hope to surpass that number quickly. How Does My Donation Make a Difference?
Your donation towards an Iron Phi athlete equally supports two very important things: Supporting ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) through research and support of ALS families and leadership development for undergraduate members of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.
At the end of each year calendar year, the LiveLikeLou Foundation grants dollars raised through Iron Phi to fund its initiatives that support ALS research, scholarships to support the higher education goals of ALS dependents, and summer camp experiences for children who have a parent or grandparent with ALS.
Dollars used for undergraduate leadership development have and continue to help Phi Delta Theta educate more of its undergraduate members as they work to “Become the Greatest Version of Themselves.”
